Group Of Happy Smiling Friends Sitting In A Row“Diversity and Inclusion” has been a key organizing principle in both peer services and the recovery movement. As the recovery movement continues to grow and mature, applying this principle is timelier than ever. What strategies do we need to consider that will make room for everyone to participate? How do we create a network that invites and honors everyone’s full personal and cultural experience? What new concepts can we explore that will identify, cultivate, and lift up new and diverse recovery and peer leaders? At the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Recognize barriers to diversity and the inclusion of under served and represented populations in the recovery movement and recovery-oriented system of care
  2. Identify ways that individuals, organizations and systems can be inclusive and increase diversity
  3. Advocate for greater inclusion and diversity in the recovery movement and recovery-oriented system of care
