Neighborhood Suburban vector background

Recovery housing and residential programs are a proven means of cost effectively improving outcomes. Their origins can be traced back over 170 years. But individuals and family members struggle distinguishing between the different types and between the “good” and the “bad”. To address this issue, the National Alliance of Recovery Residences published a standard in 2012 for the 4 types of recovery residences found across the nation along with a certification program. NARR has revised the standard to include more best practices. This session will provide an overview of the revised standard and how it can be used to promote safe, sober and recovery-oriented living environments. At the close of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the 4 different types (levels of support) of recovery residences as defined by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR)
  2. Name 7 for the 37 NARR standards
  3. Describe the recovery residence certification process
