Laurie is a dedicated advocate for the Women for Sobriety (WFS), New Life Program. As a member of WFS since 2004, and having gained her sobriety in 2006, she brings awareness and shares her “lived” experience of a women’s recovery program that supports the whole woman in her personal growth to a life free from substance addiction. Early in her sobriety, Laurie found a counterpart to her recovery through the practice of yoga. In 2013, she completed an intensive 3-year therapeutic yoga teacher training in San Francisco and relocated to Austin, Texas that summer. Laurie connected with the local WFS community and has since taken on the Moderatorship of an emerging WFS Face-2-Face group in Southwest Austin. Laurie has continued to accent her “lived” experiences in recovery by completing Peer Recovery Coach training in the spring of 2015.
